Just so you all can laugh at my attempt at a nightly rosary, I will share how our evenings are spent. We all start at about 8 o'clock with the handing out of the rosaries. Now we have quite a plethora of rosaries, some i have made and some we got as gifts, and some we got out of the mail for free. There is always some fight over who gets what rosary and i usually end up screaming at the kids and handing the baby the rosary everyone wants and is usually the nicest one.
Then we begin. Everyone is sitting down in a chair or on the floor ( I know, I know, we should be kneeling, but i am a slacker and still trying to get the kids to sit still the whole time). Usually we ha vent finished the Apostles Creed when the first kid has put the rosary around their neck or elbow. Seth is usually swinging his rosary in a twirling motion, while Simon is climbing on his back. As Simon climbs on Seth he is repeatedly hitting his rosary on the ground over and over. Mind you that is the nice rosary everyone wanted at the beginning of the night, so i am trying to retrieve the rosary while nursing Dominic. I am pretty sure that one of the middle boys is just making a humming noise to pass as words and one child is suffering from narcolepsy.
After i have had an epileptic seizure to get everyone to behave, the small boys start pulling books off the shelves while "sword" fighting with their rosaries. Now to sword fight with a rosary, you have to fling it forward at your opponent and try to whip them with it, hopefully, stinging them to the point of tears.
At this point there are really only about four people carying the rest of us through the rosary. They all have their eyes closed as not to see the carnival act going on. But one day i will have very pious children who know the rosary and all its prayers, right?
